Multiple Pathways to Graduation
The Multiple Pathways to Graduation (MPG) project is a key element of the Portland Public Schools modernization program, providing a secure and inclusive educational hub for students who benefit from non-traditional high school settings. Located on the historic Benson Polytechnic High School campus, this state-of-the-art facility co-locates several alternative programs—including Alliance High School, Reconnection Services, and DART—into a unified, high-performance learning environment.
The design strategy centers on "radical inclusivity," transitioning away from institutional aesthetics to create a site that is both welcoming and accessible. The architecture and landscape are integrated to establish a protected social sanctuary that fosters a sense of belonging.
