Oregon State Capitol Accessibility, Safety and Maintenance - Phase 1

This complex renovation functioned as a critical enabling phase for future seismic and interior upgrades to the south wing of the historic 1938 Capitol, introducing temporary ADA-compliant accessible routes that allowed the building to remain fully operational throughout construction. The work required close collaboration among architects, preservationists, and state agencies to integrate performance-driven improvements while honoring the Capitol’s historic character, with careful protection of legacy features, including the relocation of mature trees believed to predate the existing building.
